Texas v. Overdose
January 2025
The State of Texas tried to oppress a sick person, but Diaz & Wright stopped them. Under the law, individuals cannot be prosecuted for possessing a controlled substance if they are experiencing an overdose or report one. Attorney Morrison leveraged this defense by subpoenaing hospital and ambulance records to demonstrate that his client had indeed suffered an overdose. As a result, the case was dismissed, enabling the client to pursue his educational aspirations in a field with stringent licensing regulations.
